This ancient recipe combines a potent mix of roots and herbs with dark rum to produce a heady libation that Dominicans say has medicinal and aphrodisiac powers. González chose this namesake for the band as a metaphor for their unique fusion of a variety of rhythms that together create an exciting new sound. Like the drink for which it was named, Mamajuana is much more than the sum of its parts.
