Mikael Devante was born in 1980 in Managua, Nicaragua and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Mikaels interest and dedication to music and singing evolved from the early age of fourteen as he began his musical education in the gospel choir of Cardinal Dougherty High School. His experience in that choir led to his involvement with Ecstasy, a five-boy singing group. In 1994, he auditioned for an R&B talent search sponsored by Bet and Motown. He was selected among thousands of participants to be one of three finalists chosen for the show BET Motown Talent Search. At the age of sixteen, his first major show saw him singing alongside legendary Salsa singer Celia Cruz while performing in front of vast audience. After numerous auditions he was chosen to become the lead singer for the Rio Boyz, later renamed 5th Vision a grouped owned by Granda Entertainment, Inc. With his parents blessings he left his hometown of Philadelphia at the age of seventeen and moved with the group to Miami, Florida. In Miami, his artistic opportunities grew with each passing day culminating in 1999 when 5th Vision was selected by Grammy winner Christina Aguilera to appear in her Disney channel special 2 Hour Tour. 2 Hour Tour paved the way for the group to record their album and allowed Mikael the opportunity to tour extensively throughout South America, Central America and Puerto Rico. After three years, the group members decided to pursue separate avenues thereby allowing Mikael to launch his solo career. Mikael put his experience to work and recorded his first solo album called El Momento working along side well known producers Dennis Nieves, Tazmania & Elliot. Bringing to life his long awaiting dream and finding his home in the most popular genre, Reggaeton. Mikael, now a rising solo artist, has shown great perseverance and dedication to his musical pursuits. Fusing his acclaimed Pop background with cutting edge Reggaeton, Mikael has found the musical style that will propel him to stardom.
